Sam HowellSam Howell

Hello! I'm Sam Howell, a native of Nashville, TN. I currently live in West Ashley with my boyfriend Dan and our wonderful pooch, MJ. I have been the office manager for Atlantic Spine Clinic for 3 years now and I love it! I really enjoy getting to interact on a personal level with my patients while managing office tasks. My favorite hobbies include running, boxing, taking MJ to the beach and dining at all the amazing restaurants Charleston has to offer. I'm so glad to have found Water's Edge Dentistry. Dr. Dahlkemper has helped me in so many ways. My pain from TMJ was ruling my life; Dr. D and her staff have brought my pain level and stress level down 100%. They are always there for me in my time of need, and offer the latest, most up-to-date and cost effective options for treatment. I refer all of my patients to Water's Edge when they are looking for an amazing dental experience.

February Patient Spotlight

Phillip GarlandPhillip Garland

My name is Phillip Garland. I was born in Goldsboro, NC on May 29, 1985. As a military brat, I moved often as a child and have lived in Vermont, Ohio, Michigan, North Dakota, Germany, and Texas. I graduated from Maumee High School in Maumee, OH in 2003. My parents have both recently retired from the United States Air Force and I enlisted as a Precision Measurement Laboratory technician in February of 2008. After graduating the United States Air Force basic training course in San Antonio, TX and completing technical training in Biloxi, MS I was stationed at Charleston Air Force Base in October of 2008. I am currently still stationed at Joint Base Charleston and live in West Ashley with my girlfriend Jennifer Ryan and our two dogs Jake and Audrey.

I enjoy weightlifting, playing guitar, golfing and playing intramural softball. I am taking online courses through Southwestern College towards my BA in Computer Programming Technology and look forward to completing my degree and beginning a career in computer programming or computer forensics.

I found Water's Edge Dentistry when I came across a great deal on Invisalign that they offered through Living Social. Dr. Dahlkemper has been great throughout the whole process; every few weeks I go in to get the next set of Invisalign Trays. I really like that each visit at the office is quick and easy. Watching my teeth shift in to place little by little has been very exciting. I can't wait to see the end result!

Kris TurinKris Turin

Hello, I'm Kris Turin. My wife Jennifer and I live in Mt. Pleasant with our two small poodles and one large cat.I work in senior care, and I was introduced to Dr. Dahlkemper's office by one of my clients. Ever since I was a child I have enjoyed spending my time with seniors. I enjoy going that extra mile to make their life a little easier. It was during my time as a hospice volunteer that I realized working with seniors was my life's calling. After several years of training and working in the field, I decided earlier this year to branch out on my own. That is when I started Lowcountry Home Care, a home care service for seniors. I believe that seniors thrive in a familiar home environment.

September Patient Spotlight

Melissa GergitsHello, I am Melissa Gergits. I have been married for twenty-two years and have two children, Alana who is 14 and Nicholas is 8. We moved to Mount Pleasant about two years ago and we love it. I owned a hair salon and spa for fifteen years in Charlotte NC. We sold it when my husband had a career opportunity allowing us to move to the coast which we have always loved. I really wanted to get back into the salon business so with a leap of faith, I opened my salon; Studio 108 in November of 2011. It is right down the road from Waters Edge Dentistry. It has been a wonderful experience and the community has given me a ton of support for which I am very grateful! We found Dr. Dahlkemper through our insurance company. When I called several dentists for my daughter needing tooth pulled; the front desk staff at Water's Edge was very professional and full of information. When your child walks out of the office after having a tooth pulled and says "That was fun!" you know you have found the right place!

Contact information for my salon is studio108mountpleasant@gmail.com or 843-907-1162.

March Patient Spotlight

This month's patient spotlight is dedicated to Sheryll Johnson. Her career was as a Public Education Director for the NC American Cancer Society. She also did some modeling for Nordstrom, Coldwater Creek, and Doncaster Tanner Designers. When she moved to Mount Pleasant she signed with Coastal Talent and have appeared in commercials, TV (including Army Wives), and History Channel. She and her husband, Darrell, have been patients at Water's Edge Dentistry for 3 years. Sheryll writes, "We love their friendly and efficient staff and excellent dental work. We are both actors doing TV commercials and print ads so it is very important that we have nice smiles. I was just fitted with the Invisalign system and am excited to see the results. Our experience with Water's Edge Dentistry has been exceptionally positive. Dr. Dahlkemper and her staff make this possible by meeting all my dental needs in a timely manner. Thanks, Water's Edge, for taking such good care of my teeth!"

We are proud of Sheryll and her husband and love seeing them on TV in commercials for Wells Fargo, Hampton Inn, and many others.

Keys for Hope

Keys for Hope was started as a school project by kids in Mt. Pleasant, who are raising money for Crisis Ministries, Charleston's homeless shelter. The funds raised are dedicated to building the new shelter building and soup kitchen. Each decorative key symbolizes "shelter" and the hope for a better future for Charleston's homeless men, women and children. These future philanthropists realize that together, even kids can impact their community in a big way. For more info on Crisis Ministries, www.charlestonhomeless.org

Keys for Hope

Keys for Hope

Each key is hand-designed and decorated. They can be worn as necklaces, key chains, backpack charms, and even used as gift tags, stocking stuffers, teacher gifts and ornaments. When you wear your key, you are showing your support in the fight to end homelessness, one person and one family at a time.

Keys for Hope

If you are interested in making a donation, ordering keys, or have a group that would like to get involved in some way, either post it on this page or send an email to pilley@bellsouth.net. Currently, our keys are available for sale at Wonderworks toy stores in Mt. Pleasant and coming soon to West Ashley.

Water's Edge Dentistry applauds these young adults, Clara and Matthew Pilley, Sophie and Olivia Estoppey, Zoe and Abby Hricik, and Ellie and Natalie Schuck, with their big hearts to help others. YOU HAVE INSPIRED US ALL!!!! Keys will also be able to be purchased at the office.

July Patient Spotlight - Natalie Gregory

Charleston SC Dentist Patient Spotlight Hello! I'm Natalie Gregory. Originally from Kingsport, Tennessee I fell in love with Charleston coming to visit my high school sweetheart, Josh Gregory, while he was at the College of Charleston. Luckily my parents, Danny and Tita Massie, moved here while I was a student at Presbyterian College. I went to medical school at MUSC and after graduation Josh and I moved to Denver, Colorado as newlyweds. We spent 4 years in Denver while I completed my residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. We then moved back to the South and settled in Mt. Pleasant in the summer of 2008. I joined Lowcountry OB/GYN and am loving private practice. We welcomed our beautiful and hilarious daughter, Della, in October of 2009 and will add another baby to the family this winter. Loving my own family and helping others to grow theirs is what I live for each day. I have the most wonderful and rewarding job in the world. It's definitely the happiest part of the medical field in my opinion.

When I'm not at the hospital or chasing little Della around, I help out at the CARES Clinic (the MUSC student-run free clinic) and I enjoy reading, going to the beach and to concerts, doing activities with my church, and visiting with my 3 nieces and 3 nephews as much as possible.

May Patient Spotlight - Shane Doll

Charleston SC Dentist Shane Doll Hi, my name is Shane Doll and I'm a certified Charleston personal trainer and founder of Shaping Concepts Personal Training Studios located in Mt. Pleasant. Originally from Youngtown, OH, I've been living in Charleston for going on ten years now. This is home now and there's no place I'd rather be. I'm recently married to my beautiful wife Lina Norena and together we'd like to start a family here. I moved to Charleston to fulfill my dream of starting my own personal training studio as a way to help people in ways the big box health clubs don't. That dream has become a reality and I feel blessed to be able to do what I do every day. I find no greater reward than the satisfaction of helping someone change their life for the better. Coaching is my passion so that is a large part of my life.

When I'm not working I like to spend my time outdoors boating, fishing, hunting, shooting, and doing all the things a country boy who grew up on a farm likes to do. Fortunately, my wife likes to do these things as well so it all works out. As a former college football player at Bowling Green State University, I also have a passion for college football. Of course I still root for my Falcons but since I'm a South Carolinian now the Gamecocks have naturally become my team and receive my allegiance … Sorry Clemson fans.
